Northview Bank has been part of the Deer River community since 2006. Incorporated as a small village in 1898, Deer River was named after the nearby tributary of the Mississippi River. Early on, it featured a depot, three hotels, stores, restaurants, and a log schoolhouse but no church. The logging industry thrived, employing up to 1,500 men, with extensive rail construction and log banking.

Known as the "Gateway to the Chippewa State Forest," Deer River boasts attractions like the Big Fish Sculpture at Highway 2 and 6, Schoolcraft State Park near the Mississippi River Headwaters, White Oak Casino, and Lake Winnibigoshish for fishing and boating.

For over 70 years, Deer River has celebrated the Wild Rice Festival, honoring the area's abundant wild rice. Despite the rise of commercially grown "paddy rice," the festival, sponsored by the Deer River Lions Club, remains a beloved tradition, offering activities for all ages.
